De-Tong Ling Retreat Centre is a not-for-profit organisation and is registered as a charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission.

Because De-Tong Ling has tax-deductible gift recipient status endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), donations to the DTL Building Fund are tax-deductible in Australia.

However, the Centre also accepts general donations that are not intended for the Building Fund. These donations are used for many other purposes, but are not tax-deductable.
