Frank Brock first visited De-Tong Ling in 1997 when Khabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche advised him to do a long retreat there and on finding no suitable accommodation he built the first mud brick retreat house completing it in 2000. Prior to that, after meeting the Dharma in 1978 he had been a monk for nine years living mostly in India and Nepal. He has served as the Director of Root Institute in India, Lawudo Gompa in Nepal and Atisha Centre in Bendigo.
